Frequent questions

  • What is a digital twin?

It is the virtual representation of a physical object or a process; it is an exact copy of your facilities and operations.

A digital twin besides containing the main properties of the elements such as areas, volumes, materials, efficiency and trajectories can also be connected to different database sources, sensors and reporting systems in real time.

With organized 3D information under the BIM methodology (Building Information Modeling) you can achieve simulations to predict scenarios, behaviors and improve the maintenance planning, significantly decreasing time and operating costs.

  • Is it expensive to make a digital twin?

In our Strategic Consultant service we define together the Return of Investment (ROI) of the project, this means that we digitalize only the systems that represent an opportunity to improve efficiency, reduce costs and time. The project should pay for itself.

  • Do I need specialized staff to operate a digital twin?

No. Our platforms, programs and technological tools are intuitive and really easy to use, and we also be with you and guide you in the process to interpret the information.

  • In which disciplines can digital twins be applied?

    Manufacture operations

Digital twins are involved in the complete life cycle of a product, they had become omnipresent, guiding the process from the design to the final product, including intermediate stages such as production, quality, maintenance and storage.

    Healthcare services

Hospitals contain innumerable critical service systems and facilities for their patients that must have excellent maintenance and quality. Additionally, the same type of sensor-generated data system can be used to track a variety of health indicators achieving key insights.

    Structures and systems

Large physical structures, such as buildings or offshore drilling rigs, can be improved with digital twins, especially during their design. They are also useful for operation and maintenance of your systems.

    Automotive industry

Cars involve complex systems that work together. Digital twins are widely used in car design, to improve the performance and to increase the production efficiency.

    Urban planning

Civil engineers and others involved in urban planning activities will benefit significantly from the use of digital twins which can display 3D and 4D spatial data in real time and also incorporate augmented reality systems into built environments.

    Power generation equipment

Large engines, including jet engines, locomotive engines and power generation turbines, benefit from the use of digital twins, especially to establish schedules for the regularly needed maintenance.

About BIM

  • What is BIM and what is it for?

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a modeling methodology to obtain information from a property. Applies to new projects for the design, and also for existing projects, to make their operation and maintenance more efficient. This is achieved with as-built modeling and scanning technology, being exact and faithful to the construction.

  • What is the difference between BIM, Revit and Archicad?

As we already mentioned, BIM refers to a property information modeling methodology, while Revit and Archicad are two of the most active enabling programs for this methodology.

  • The existing building in the Claraspital Area in Basel is going to be replaced for a new 4-floor building. A complete BIM model of the adjacent areas was developed. More than 2,500 scans were taken, translated to cloud points and a BIM Model was created. Beside the architecture model, also all the installations (MEP) were modeled, including special systems such as Gases, pneumatic tubes, etc.

  • SPAR Handels opened its doors in Switzerland in 2020 and took over more than 60 gas stations. These stations became SPAR Express and with this the market expansion increased. To achieve the equipment and conversion to the Corporate Identity, high precision scans were taken in every store. Very precise scans were required because the furniture and cabinets in the plans had to be adapted to the environment.
