Foundtech Digital Twins: An Alternative for Earthquake-Resistant Buildings
At Foundtech, we are excited to share news that fills us with pride. A couple of months ago, Grupo en Concreto highlighted our innovative contribution to the field of construction with an article titled “Digital twins pave the way for earthquake-resistant buildings: Foundtech”. The article underscores our vision and commitment to construction safety, positioning digital twins as an effective solution to the constant challenge of earthquakes in Mexico.
Mexico’s Seismic Reality: Challenges and Innovative Responses
In the Grupo en Concreto article, Mexico’s seismic reality is addressed, highlighting the urgent need for safer and more resistant buildings.
The earthquakes of 1985 and 2017 left deep scars on the country’s infrastructure, and since then the construction industry has been working tirelessly to develop materials and structures that can withstand the onslaughts of nature.
In 2022 alone, Mexico recorded more than 29,800 earthquakes, with 34 of them exceeding 5 on the Richter scale. These statistics underscore the critical importance of addressing the structural safety of buildings in our country. It is in this challenging context that digital twins, a technological tool that we have adopted and perfected at Foundtech, are making a difference.
Digital Twins: More Than a Virtual Representation
In the words of Manuel Seañez, our Partner and General Manager, a digital twin is not simply a virtual representation. It is a model that has the unique ability to replicate and simulate the behavior of a physical object or systems in real time. We do not claim that digital twins are a complete solution, but when it comes to prevention, they analyze the potential impact of earthquakes on buildings before a seismic event occurs.
Contributing to the Safety and Resistance of Buildings
At Foundtech, we believe in the importance of not only facing challenges, but overcoming them with innovative solutions. Our digital twins give construction professionals the ability to design, analyze and monitor buildings in a virtual environment before and after their construction. This translates into safer and more resistant buildings, especially in a seismic environment as active as Mexico’s.
We are committed to continuing to lead the way in the integration of digital twins in the construction industry, offering a cutting-edge alternative for confronting seismic challenges. We thank Grupo en Concreto for highlighting our work, and we are eager to keep moving toward a future where construction safety is a reality for everyone.
